Sunset Music Sail with Lee
Lee Murdock is broadly recognized as “the premier interpreter of songs and tales about the Great Lakes.” Combining historical research with contemporary insights, there is an amazing timelessness to Lee’s music and style. A home-grown talent with international acclaim, Lee Murdock’s Great Lakes songs reach back to the days of lumberjacks and wooden sailing schooners, coming alongside with original ballads of contemporary commerce and revelry in the grand folk style.
Returning by request for another late-summer “Sunset Music Sail” this special evening will feature Lee’s music, stories, camaraderie and a view of the sun setting over the Chicago skyline from the four-masted Great Lakes schooner Windy. A perfect summer’s adventure, music on a tall ship sailing in the sunset, with beer wine & soft drinks included as you enjoy a legendary performer setting the stage with songs and stories from the Freshwater highways.
MEET THE TALL SHIP WINDY
All of our sails take place aboard the Tall Ship Windy, sailing from Navy Pier in Chicago. It is a 148 foot traditional four masted gaff topsail schooner, sailing Lake Michigan since 1996.
She is built of modern materials, however, like old trading schooners and sail training ships, Tall Ship WINDY has all the character and charm of the great Age of Sail.
