Overview This program is an immersion into the nautical tall ship world where each student takes part in the total functions of the vessel while studying the nomenclature, theory, and practice of nautical science and leadership. Both practical and written assignments will be used. Students will also serve on public cruises when in ports of call mainly on the weekends.
2008 Schedule Briefly:
Cruise Route and Routine Cruises originate and return from Navy Pier, Chicago, IL On longer cruises, students may join near mid cruise. Each cruise will have a variety of types of cruising including 24 hours at sea, port of call, lake crossings, anchoring, participation in festivals, and the like. Everyone is assigned to one of three watches which must be manned to run the vessel, During the off watch, classes will be held. The third watch sleep and personal time.
