PRIVATE CHARTERS
WINDY is available for private charters, for weddings, parties, corporate functions, planning committees, reunions, church outings and Worship Sails, tour groups, team building, and educational experiences. Windy may be chartered for a maximum of 150 guests. Children and babies are welcome aboard as long as parents are always attentive to them. Baby seats are permitted. Senior citizens also enjoy being on WINDY as long as they can climb about 6 steps up and down into the boat. Charters begin with a passenger safety briefing to familiarize guests with safety features of the ship.
YOUR EXPERIENCE aboard WINDY is meant to be an outdoors one. However, we also have a grand interior "salon", which can hold 50-70 standing guests, available for dining and for getting out of the sun or weather. It is adjacent to our kitchen, or "galley".
The caterer usually sets up buffet style inside the salon, or and guests are free to move in and out.
There are 2 "heads" or pressurized marine toilets aboard, which are very easy to use.
Seating is informal as on a true sailing vessel: Cabin tops and rails on the forward deck are chair height, as are large deck boxes. There are some portable chairs in the midships area, and more benches up on the aft deck. Smoking is not permitted.
Informal dress or sophisticated casual is recommended. Many dining possibilities may be individually arranged with the ship's caterers who can provide menus from picnic casual to sophisticated buffet suppers.
Make sure to call early to obtain your desired date! Reservation dates are guaranteed only with payment.
SCHEDULING YOUR CHARTER: Windy will try to honor your scheduling requests, with the understanding that charters must be scheduled around pre-planned public sailing events and educational training cruises, which are also reserved in advance. Your group will be boarded at the time the charter is scheduled to begin, with the vessel departing shortly after, unless a dockside reception is planned.
RATES AND RESERVATIONS: Call 312-731-9689 for reservations. Charters are confirmed when payment is received. A 25% deposit will confirm charters, with the balance due 4 weeks before sailing. Cash, Checks, MasterCard and Visa are accepted.

If another caterer is used, a $500 surcharge will be applied, and we must speak to your caterer about facilities, restrictions, set up and clean up before the charter day.
If preferred, the ship's limited concessions can be opened (soft drinks, water, candy, snacks, or limited bar service for your guests' use, at either a flat fee or cash basis.
MUSIC
Music on a sailing ship has its own unique character because of the nautical atmosphere of the ship.

For an evening of Caribbean, Latin, Brazilian music or Chicago Jazz, Blues and all other popular dance music ... from rock and roll to R & B and Motown, Marshall Vente's band can provide an exciting sparkle to the cruise. Marshall is a nationally recognized multitalented pianist and bandleader familiar with all music that reaches your soul and makes people happy.
When in Chicago listen to his radio show every Sunday at 10 PM on WDCB 90.9 FM and watch for his annual "Jazz Tropicale" cruise (open to the public) aboard the Windy.

* Concessions and Bar: Windy adds to this summer's offerings, a soft drink and snack concession all day, and limited bar service on sailing cruises after 3pm. Bar service is cash only, and includes a selection of beer, wine and the Tall Ship Specialty drink of the day! You may be treated to Red Witch Royale or the soon-to be famous Windy Breeze (change this).
Although Windy will be having bar service aboard, it is not the intention to function as a full-service drinking establishment. Windy supports the spirit of Navy Pier as a family oriented visitor destination, and in order to maintain the serenity of the sailing experience, we actively discourage a "booze-cruise" atmosphere. We do permit safe and responsible drinking. Windy is, as always, a non-smoking and drug free environment. Windy reserves the right to refuse bar service to guests.
