The WINDY is a 150 foot traditional four masted gaff topsail schooner/Tall Ship. Built of modern materials, but like the old trading schooners and sail training ships, the WINDY has all the character and charm of the great days of sail. She is silently pushed by the winds once her sails are set and engine turned off. The WINDY fully meets all appropriate United States Coast Guard regulations.
The Chicago 1-1/2 hr. Skyline Cruise is a favorite. People of all walks of life enjoy this romantic getaway aboard the WINDY. Passengers agree that it is one of the most exciting yet relaxing experiences. Guests may help by raising and trimming the sails, or even taking a trick at the wheel. There are no set courses: she sails with the winds so every cruise is unique. The crew are always willing to point out the skyline, landmarks and Great Lakes wildlife. Last cruise this year will be early October 2008 weather permitting.
The WINDY is available for private charters, weddings, parties, corporate functions, planning committees (no phones to distract members), team building, reunions, church outings, tours, fun getaways, and educational experiences. Groups as large as 150 can be accommodated. The full range of foods can be provided by the ship’s caterer. Call early to confirm availability and to make plans. Educational cruises are offered to school, church, scouts, corporations, and other groups. This program provides a variety of hands-on activities and several talks on topics including maritime history, sailing, maritime arts, physics, navigation, marlinespike, seamanship, marine wildlife, group dynamics and the like. Corporate team building activities are also offered. Programs are designed for each group.

Longer term cruises are planned for adults and as a elder hostel. Folks from all walks of life enjoy actually joining an adventure and participating with the crew in sailing and standing watches. Each port of call has it’s own charm to discover. Some of our most loyal WINDY fans have sailed on one or more of these longer adventures.
