Education Group Guidelines
* Share the marvel of Maritime Heritage with students who have only read about it.
* Hands on participation in sailing the WINDY.
* Mustering for 10-15 minute lectures: maritime history and arts, safety, nomenclature, sailing, mechanics, physics, navigation, marlinespike, seamanship and the like.

Scheduling: 1 ½ hour cruise, typically weekday mornings.
Recommended grades: Fifth thru high school.
Ideal group size: 50-110 (150 Maximum with teachers and chaperones) Teachers and chaperones are to participate with students and help manage behavior.
Fares: (Minimum 50 headcount)
Monday-Friday before Noon: $10/Student, Scout, Chaperones, & extra persons ($500 minimum).
Afternnoons or Sat. & Sun.: $15/person ($675 minimum).Small groups may join a public cruise and groups scheduling during afternoon and weekends, will not necessarily have exclusive use of the vessel and the program will be modified to fit the situation of the day.
Teachers are free.

Deposits:50% due upon booking/receiving bill.
Balance due:Day of sail, BEFORE BOARDING. This allows YOU to adjust your final count and payment up to the last day. Checks are payable to WINDY of Chicago, Ltd.
Weather: Programs run, rain or shine. If a day is not suitable for sailing because of inclement weather, students meet in the aft cabin for the lectures and are given a tour inside the ship.
Refunds: No refunds for no shows, neither individuals nor whole groups.
Cancellations: Deposit is fully refundable if YOU cancel at least two weeks prior to day of sail. Full refund is given when the CAPTAIN cancels on the day of sail due to extreme weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
Lunches: Lunch may be eaten at the many eateries or picnic sites on the Pier, rather than aboard.
Electronics: Headsets, beepers, phones are to be left at home!
Restrooms: Bathroom facilities (heads) are available while sailing.
Location: WINDY is about ½ way down the Pier, just past the Shakespeare Theater.
Additional People: Other additional small groups or individuals may be added to the cruise if there is space available.
Public Sail Times: Groups joining an afternoon or weekend public sail will typically have a modified educational program adapted as the situations permits.
Parking: Drop off and pick up is at the front entrance of the Pier. Front booth security personnel can direct the bus drivers to parking.
