Guidelines and Policies for Charterers      

*RATES: First 1-1/2 hours:   Monday & Tuesday  $2195.00

                                          Wednesday--Sunday $2495.00

                                 Each additional ½ hour:        $ 545.0

                             1-1/2 hrs. Special Event        $3750+

                                               Additional 1/2 hrs. $800+

*BOOKINGS:   Call 312-595-5472 for tentative bookings. Charters are confirmed when payment is received.   A 50% deposit will confirm charters called in before May, with the balance due 4 weeks before sailing.  For charter reservations called in after May 1, full payment is due upon receipt of bill. Checks, Master Card and VISA are accepted.

*PASSENGERS: Maximum of 150 passengers. Children and babies are fine aboard so long as the parents are always attentive to them. Baby seats are permitted and strollers can be stowed in the aft cabin. Senior citizens also enjoy being on WINDY so long as they can climb about 6 steps up and then down into the boat.  There are plenty of life jackets for everyone.

*BOARDING TIME:  Boarding begins at the time the ship is chartered. Typically, the group assembles on the dock just before boarding time, then board them at one time.  Once aboard, the crew gives a brief safety and ship orientation and immediately after, the ship leaves the dock while the crew asks for volunteers to help raise sail.  Once the sails are set, food and drink are broken out which ends up being about 8-12 minutes after boarding.  If you would like to board earlier to allow the group to slowly assemble or to do drinks early, be sure to schedule and book for the time you want. No food or drink is permitted to be passed to the dock.

*FACILITIES: YOUR EXPERIENCE  aboard WINDY is meant to be an outdoors one. We have a great cabin which could hold about 50-70. The caterer usually sets up inside and guests move in and out but it is not intended that they would stay inside for the entire charter.  There are 2 heads or marine toilets aboard. Seating is considered to be informal as on a true sailing vessel:  cabin tops and rails on the forward deck, large deck boxes and some chairs in the amidships area, benches up on the aft deck.  Smoking is not permitted on charters of 2 hours or less.

*WEATHER: Cancellations due to weather will be at the Captain's discretion. Our policy is to wait and see as long as possible. Very few charters are called due to weather, and with drizzly days a tarp can be set up on the main deck. However, our desire is that you have a pleasant experience aboard.

*SCHEDULING:   Most charters will be scheduled on the odd hours of the day, i.e. 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and so on, but the time can be adjusted if necessary. Your group will be boarded at the time the charter is scheduled to begin, with the vessel departing once loaded unless a dockside reception is planned.

*CANCELLATIONS: Charters are fully refunded if canceled 4 weeks before sailing date. If the Captain cancels for any reason, unforeseen circumstances or severe weather, a full refund is given.

*CATERING:     The ship’s caterers have selections and ideas suitable for being aboard. They will bill you directly.   If preferred, the ship’s limited concessions can be opened (pop, water, candy, snacks). Click below for more details:
